IEEE Industry Applications Society held its fifty-sixth annual Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) conference at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, CA, USA, from September 14-16, 2009.

Nearly 950 attendees from around the world participated in the 2009 IEEE-PCIC Conference, including 168 first time attendees.  The technical program featured papers focused on technology and issues faced by electrical engineers in the petroleum and chemical industry.  At the conclusion of the 2009 conference, PCIC hosted tutorials to provide a transfer of technology from experienced application engineers to enlightened engineers desiring a continued education.  The PCIC also sponsored a number of Standards activities during the conference.
